ADHD Assessments
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most commonly misunderstood conditions — and one of the most underdiagnosed, particularly in adults. If you or someone you love has been struggling with focus, impulsivity, disorganisation, emotional regulation, or a persistent sense of not living up to their potential, a formal ADHD assessment can be a life-changing first step.
At Balanced Life Psychotherapy & Counselling, we offer comprehensive private ADHD assessments for both children and adults in Singapore, with results typically available within days.
Who Should Consider an ADHD Assessment?
You may want to explore an ADHD assessment if you or your child:
- Has persistent difficulty sustaining attention on tasks
- Is easily distracted by external stimuli or internal thoughts
- Frequently loses things or forgets daily tasks
- Acts impulsively or interrupts others frequently
- Struggles to complete tasks or follow through on plans
- Has been told by teachers or employers that they are not performing to their ability
- Is experiencing significant underachievement relative to their intelligence
- Is a successful neurodiverse executive who would like to diagnose & unlock professional growth by being more aware of their diversity (read our blog here)
- Has a family history of ADHD
ADHD presents differently in different people — and often differently in girls and women compared to boys and men. A formal assessment is the only reliable way to confirm a diagnosis. Read our blog here on why quick fire tests need to be supplemented.
Our ADHD Assessment Process
Our certified psychologist Vincent Ng conducts ADHD assessments using a comprehensive, multi-method approach that includes:
- Detailed clinical interview covering developmental, family and educational history
- Standardised psychometric assessment tools validated for Singapore and international use
- Behavioural observation
- Collateral information (e.g. from parents, teachers or employers where relevant)
- A written report with findings, diagnosis (if applicable) and recommendations
The assessment report can be shared with schools, educational institutions, employers, insurance providers, or other healthcare professionals as needed. If medication is being considered, we can refer to panel psychiatrists.

Why Choose a Private ADHD Assessment in Singapore?
Public ADHD assessments through MOE, IMH, or CDU at KKH and NUH are high quality and may be subsidised or free for eligible Singaporeans — but waiting times may stretch to many months. A private assessment is the right choice if:
- You need a diagnosis quickly for school accommodations, NS related reasons, or workplace support (read our blog on NS here)
- You are not eligible for public subsidies
- You are an adult (adult ADHD pathways through the public system are more limited)
- You prefer a more private, confidential assessment environment
If you hold CIGNA or Allianz insurance, your assessment may be covered — contact us to find out.
ADHD Assessments for Adults
Adult ADHD is significantly underdiagnosed in Singapore. Many adults reach their 30s, 40s, or beyond before realising that the difficulties they have struggled with their entire lives have a name and a path to treatment. Whether you are a professional, entrepreneur, or executive whose performance is being impacted, or someone who simply wants to understand themselves better, an adult ADHD assessment can be profoundly clarifying.
